Thumb Penetration

The magicians claims to have a magic thumb. A Tissue is draped over the thumb and toothpicks or straight pins are poked through the tissue into the thumb. The toothpicks are removed and the thumb is unhurt.

What you Need: Toothpicks, a tissue and a small carrot or unripe banana cut in the shape of your thumb.

Performance: Palm the piece of carrot or banana in your left hand. Make sure nobody sees it palmed in your hand. Call attention to your thumb. Wiggle it so everyone can see it is normal. Tell them an old man in India told you it was a magic thumb. Drape the tissue over it. As you drape the tissue over your thumb move the banana or carrot in place of your thumb. Poke the toothpicks into the carrot or banana. Be careful you do not poke your real thumb. Remove the toothpicks. Then when you remove the tissue to show your unharmed thumb carry off the piece of carrot or banana with it an throw everything out of view.

Comedy Performance: Instead of removing the toothpicks ask for a round of applause. While they are clapping pick up the tissue with the piece of carrot or banana in it and turn it over to expose the secret. Exposing the secret piece of carrot or banana is always funny especially to the ones that were really grossed out.
